Love is all at Music Station

I feel like ranting about this.

Note: I have been reading Chinese entertainment news ever since I have learned how to read Chinese. Just that back then, YUI wasn't in the entertainment industry. I'm fascinated by the fact that selective ignorance can actually turn into a scary habit.

Background song: Love is all

I like both YUI and Hikki, I don't know if they like each other but,

As I was happily watching this 3 hours long Music Station SP (4 April 2008), and planning to share my discoveries with you guys, I found this Chinese news report on this episode of Music Station.

Source: Oriental Daily News, credits to Ylous @ YL

YUI Dozing Off

Basically first they insult Utada's appearance in last night's Music Station, saying that a lot of Japanese internet users trashed her fashion sense (I better don't elaborate this), then they say those internet users found that YUI, who was sitting beside Hikki, was actually sleeping.

Captions on the picture: When Utada was having interview, YUI, who was sitting at the row behind, sleeping sweetly.

Excuse me?? Did you actually watch the video on Utada being interviewed?? What if Hikki fans saw this?? What if people actually believe in this??

The most you can say is YUI wasn't paying attention. Somehow this news got circulated around and another paper 太陽報, accused YUI for not giving face (showing respect) to Hikki.

People were just looking down at the small TV thingy in front of her okay? YUI prefers seeing people's face through that TV instead of staring their backs, is there any problem with that? The moment she blinks her eyes, you snap a screenie, then create stories based on that picture you have. Or worse, bumped into this picture while finding any possible news material through internet because you ran out of ideas, and decided to make stories from it.

EDIT: They actually 'cropped' away that TV in front of YUI, I'm really amazed.

マガイもの そうじゃないもの集めて
値段をつけてる
そんなんじゃ やっかいだ 困難だ
どうなんの?この先 ・・・教えてほしい
Collecting real things and fake ones
And then labeling them a price
That really is troublesome, and troubling
What now about the future? Please tell me

Being used to how famous Hong Kong tabloid is, the most we can do is let people know that it isn't true. But I was surprised by the reaction of certain fans.

- If I were YUI, sitting there for three hours, I'll fall asleep too.
- If YUI's ok with it, I don't see anything wrong about it.
- I bet she's tired.
- I'm not sure if it's true or not.

The first thing I did was rewatch that part again, instead of saying, "looks like she's sleeping" or things like that. Well, that's inevitable I guess. We tend to make judgment within a snap, who has the time to analyse everything anyway.

疑ってるんでしょ?ニセモノだ ホンモノだ
で、あなたはどうなの?
You must be doubtful, right? Fake or real?
Then, what do you think?

If you have 'observed' YUI long enough, we can make an assumption that she's an extremely well mannered, empathetic person. You will never see her acting sloppily when she's in any TV shows, she always sits super straight, doesn't even cross her legs in front of camera (unless she isn't aware of it). To prevent being misunderstood or offended someone in any way, she tends to avoid answering certain questions, or gives generic answers instead.

YUI, sitting super straight. I really should learn to sit properly =x

Do you think that she'll actually fall asleep in a LIVE and prestigious TV show like Music Station?? It is consider extremely rude to do so, especially in Japan.

言われっぱなしの毎日で 何処にも行けないや
週刊誌に撮られちゃいけないようなこともないし
Being told off everyday, I can't get anywhere
There are no such things that say that I can't be taken by papparazzi in magazines

What can we do about this? File a complaint through email? I tried once when Sin Chew Jit Poh mistaken YUI as ERIKA, no response.

That doesn't mean that I will stop trying. If you guys know emails of those who are responsible, I'll be glad to write them a complaint letter, in a civilised manner, of course. The least we can do is through our complaints, hopefully that in the future, they will report nice things about YUI. Instead of letting them do as they pleased, even though we cannot avoid this, because this tabloid thing has been there for ages.

EDIT (provided by CDS):

news@oriental.com.hk
news@the-sun.com.hk

Lets go ahead and blast them together lol. If you go overboard and stalk artists privately and provide us all these interesting facts, we can only say that you're breaching people's privacy (Flash Exciting magazine). But now you are making up stories which aren't true. What kind of story will you create next??

くらべたがるあの人にも伝えて
もうちょっと愛のある言葉で
Do tell the person who loves to compare.
With words that are filled with a little more love.

Spare some love, people. Because Love is all.

Hopefully YUI will Laugh away. If somehow she found out about this.

Special thanks to doobie @ JPS for the video, members @ YF for inspiring me, and depyon @ YL for the English translation of Love is all (with minor modifications from yours truly).

イマヤリタイコトガ イマヤレテマスカ?
もちろんそうです いつだってそうです
望んでる答えも見えるけど ah ah
Things that you really want to do now Are you able to continue doing them now?
Of course. As always, of course
I can even see the answer that I have been looking for ah ah

I'm glad to hear that. Keep doing your thing, love oneself.

PS: Trying to find the perfect time to listen I LOVED YESTERDAY from track one till track 13...

I wasn't planning on commenting at this at all. first off, it's ridiculous. second, we know the truth. third, it is somehow pointless.

well I don't have the urge to comment because it's sickening and I don't have energy for this stupidity.

but I can't help it. we can't right?

those reporters are ignorant. well maybe not. thye pretty know the truth but choose to look ignorant and compose news like this and make a prfit out of them. the ruckus it will create will be a super plus to them. how noarrow-minded. well that's how the world spins right? MONEY. it makes the world go round. period.

well as much as we want to ignore this piece of crap we simply can't right? as people who are greatly concerned with YUI-san and not merely just fans who are after her, we are offended and disgraced by this idiocracy these reproters are doing. not just with YUI-san but to other artists as well.

Teo-san is right on us taking actions on this, appropriate actions I should say. like writing our views and our insights on this matter and of the sort to those concerned in a civilized manner. writitng a letter of complaint and opinion will be the best option we have.

hopefully those idiots will listen to us.

but realisitcally speaking, I think they'll just laugh at us. THAT IS IF they truly are just those kind of reporters playing ignorant to make money out of this crappy dirty stuff.

well sorry for being pessimistic and sour there.

hopefully things will be set straight. darn, how frustrating.

*fist up* How could they done this!! Oh poor YUI-san, it's ridiculous~! Those paparazzi really crossed the line!! Though that's the way they make money, but I definitely won't forgive them.. For those who don't really know YUI, how are they gonna think of our dear YUI-san?! We really have to complain about this!

PeaceViolet

I put it down to the newspapers looking for money, i mean, i would end up doing the same if i were in her position, and for some random reason, once you are famous, that's it, the papers will try and find everything out about you and when they've run out of decent things to say, they make up a load of crap. I've seen full walls of tabloids trying to put up bad news and scams and even they contradict each other so these kinds of papers might as well just get lost as far as i'm concerned.

This is awful!!!

After everything that has been done to build YUI's career, all the time and effort carefully molding her image. After she seemed right on the verge of attaining global super-stardom....

And now THIS!!!!

Our lovely YUI was SLEEPING!!!
I'm so humiliated! And I can't believe you, Teo, of all people would defend her! Open your eyes, we were deceived all along!

No one could be that perfect and we were fooled!! Now we must just admit it!

I, for one, will be burning my YUI CDs and cancelling my pre-order.... right after I finish reading this very interesting story in American Inquizitor....Did you know that two Peruvian Arctic Orangutans were discovered breast feeding a three-headed baby Martian because it's parents died in a firey crash when their flying saucer ran out of Plutonine fuel as they entered Earth's crust near Mt. Pinatubo??? It's inceadible!!! THEY HAVE PICTURES OF THE BLAST!!!!

Love is All lyrics is definitely fit with this condition. I Really mad when i saw this news. What a joke that they made up.

and to hbdcrKevin,
You probably never seen the actual video, you're ashamed for nothing. Humiliated ? It's YUI who humiliated because of something that she never done, not you. It's you who should be ashamed because you doubted YUI. YUI didn't sleeping at all at that show. Watch the video really carefully and slap yourself after you saw it.

Note: Kevin was just joking. I apologise if his sarcasm was too difficult to interpret :)

In case things go overboard...

PS: I wanna see YUI rocking out when she performs Daydreamer. Cool anime-ish song indeed.

Rob Roy said...

whooaaa
things are getting overboard already...

yeah, I think the article went over the borderline. I mean there are many things to report, like the show being nice, and the performance of the artists, but why report about an artist and accused her of SLEEPING when in fact she's not! hmppp

Yeah, I agree with Teo, all we can do now is to tell people we know, people that know the news that this isn't true~ Spread the FACT not the FICTION~ XD

I am making an LJ Post about this ato spread the FACT. (I was supposed to ignore this since it seems to have minor effects on my first read.. but it seems doing a post about this is inevitable~)

PS: Love is all is great! It matched the mood and theme of the post.. hehe

I guess this is the kind of stuff that inspires great song like Love is all. But I doubt the papers in Japan would stoop this low and publish something without even looking at the facts. I bet the reporter who wrote it haven't even seen the show or else he would have noticed that other artists were doing the same thing(looking down at the screen like what Matsumoto Jun is also doing in that pic...).

But for YUI, it's more obvious because she's super polite. She sits up straight and rarely moves around. Add that to the fact that she's almost always looking at that little screen(looking at people's faces when they're talking)...*sigh* I guess the best 'dirt' they can get on YUI are stuff like these...Plus the fact that they made YUI seem disrespectful to Hikki is even worse! And complaining about her dress while taking a dig at YUI? Come on man, how about giving us some real 'entertainment news' like the content of the interviews or how great the performances are instead of crap like these.

teo: It's the first thing I thought when I heard Daydreamer too. "This would be a cool OP to an anime". Heheh. Her tour this year would totally rock hard. How I wish I can go~

Kevin: Hehe, too bad those guys couldn't understand your sense of humour. Your post made me laugh, kinda reduced the 'heat' a bit after reading this post. ^^

daibasu said...

YUI is definitely not sleeping.. she wont do something like that..

If I were there I guess I will fall asleep... haha

Teo: Daydreamer is my favorite track! the first time I heard it I was alredy imagining it as an anime opening song of Bleach or some other anime... love YUI's rock songs :D

Anonymous said...

Yeah, I think. It suits Anime OP as well. hmm, BLEACH FTW !!! I hope Daydreamer will be used as Bleach next OP ? Very-very cool song indeed.

My initial reaction when I read the news was "Oh. So what?". If they had that much credibility in the first place they wouldn't be a tabloid. Tabloids were never meant to be friendly. Rather than worrying about how YUI fans will react to this, I pray even more that YUI's image to non-YUI fans will not be "YUI? Who's that? Oh, you mean that girl who was sleeping in MS?" When there ain't no such thing.

I think YUI will just laugh away at this~ "How crazy" applies here too eh - 分かったようにアタシのこと話すのはやめてよ。 The point to those tabloids is 要疯你自己疯个够. Lol. They're probably trying to create some kind of 轰动 news before the album release. Sales definitely ain't gonna be affected just by that. And so what if it does? I'll just buy 2 copies instead of one then. Bleh.

Pardon my random borrowing of words from other languages~

P.S. Teo, I can't find your post about the LIFE episode on MS.. I know I'm blind. ><

kaiserkawai: i agree 100% with you, but common it's not gonna ruin YUI's life... she's too great to let that kind of stupid things ruin her life ^_^
well i bet that's what happeneds when you're famous! the price to pay....
funny funny funny

So pointless and like little babies... sincere people should never be hurt by comments of people who only want to say bad things, not caring at all what is deserved.
